Ed Sturmheit

Tenor Soloist

Ed Sturmheit lives and works in North Yorkshire and regularly performs as tenor soloist with choirs and orchestras in the area.

Ed Sturmheit enjoys singing a wide range of music. Recently he performed Viennese operetta excerpts. Other concerts include the Monteverdi Vespers, the Missa Luba and recital of songs from the musicals. As a student he sang with Edward Higginbottom and Richard Marlow in Cambridge.

Ed is a member of the Chapter House Choir and performs regularly for York Opera where his most recent rôle was as the Rector in Britten’s Peter Grimes, a rôle he says, principally distinguished by the large hat! He studies singing privately with Claudia Barr and Marika van der Meer and has been coached by Ian Partridge and Jean Christoph Benoit. He is Head of Department, teaching English at one of county’s largest Comprehensive Schools.
