Christopher Liddle was Musical Director at St Olave’s Church from 1980 until 1988 and Musical Director of the Academy of St Olave’s from 1982 to 1989.
Christopher Liddle studied at the Royal Northern College of Music where his principal study was organ.
After he left Manchester, Christopher became Head of Music at Guernsey Grammar School for Boys, and Organist and Choirmaster of the Town Church of St Peter Port. Chris became well known as a recitalist in the Channel Islands, England and in France, and appeared on both BBC and ITV. Ten years later Christopher moved to Swansea, where he became Organist and Choirmaster at the Church of St Mary, taught in the University College of Swansea and undertook consultancy and design work for organ builders J. W. Walker and Sons.
Moving to York in 1980, Christopher became Head of Music at Canon Lee School, Director of Music at St Olave’s Church and Musical Director for the Academy of St Olave’s. In 1989 Christopher relocated from York to Sherborne in Dorset, where he was appointed Director of Music of Sherborne Preparatory School.
Chris Liddle passed away in February 2022.
